Our beds are our safe haven, our ultimate safe space, where we can just nestle in after a really bad day, and let go of all our worries! On my days off, I love snuggling up in bed, watching some Netflix, while munching on my favorite snacks. I’m sure most of us share the same sentiment. Our bed has literally always got our back. But finding the perfect bed can be a dilemma! We all have different requirements when it comes to the ideal bed, and just because a bed works perfectly for someone else, doesn’t mean it’ll work perfectly for you as well. Hence, we’ve curated a diverse collection of super comfy, cozy, and innovative bed designs that’ll tempt you into immediately jumping onto them. These beds promise to soak up all your stress!
Pandemic or no pandemic, we can all agree that this is the ultimate bed just like its name states – the Hariana Tech Smart Ultimate Bed! The $2800 price tag is justified with a myriad of features that make it perfect for a weekend in or even work from home – let’s be honest, they both feel the same right now. You know we always have to get up to get stuff before we settle into relax mode? Well, this bed was designed to have everything you will need to relax within your bed frame. It has an integrated reclining massage chair with a remote, a built-in Bluetooth speaker, a bookshelf, a reading lamp, an air cleaning system, an area to plug-in and charges your devices, a foot-stool that opens up for extra storage, and a pop-up desk for the ultimate WFH setup, Netflix marathon or cozy reading hours.
Suspended on a single leg, the Fluttua Bed by Lago Design truly looks like it’s floating in the air! The bed can be installed on various kinds of walls, handle up to 240kg of weight and it’ll transform your snooze session into one magical experience. Quite honestly the bed reminds me of Aladdin’s Magic Carpet! I really wouldn’t mind jumping on it and sailing effortlessly through my dreams like Jasmine. That is the closest I’ll probably get to acting like a princess!
Titled the Work/Sleep Balance, this morphing piece of home decor is ideal for tiny apartments, serving two purposes within a small footprint. The desk top is large enough to accommodate most of your work accouterments, while the cabinet on the side features a collapsible tri-axial bed frame that opens up to become a base for the mattress, which rolls right up and slides into a compartment in the desk’s back. The transformation takes around 2-3 minutes, allowing you to efficiently use your space to work during the day, and catch some shut-eye during the night!
Designed by Hi-interiors, the HiBed is quite frankly the bed of my dreams. The second generation in their smart beds, this one is a more minimal and sleeker version of its predecessor, the HiCan. A modern take on the traditional canopied bed, the smart(er) bed is versatile and integrates effortlessly with any and all furnishing. Equipped with a built-in 4K projector that can be synced with a series of devices to binge-watch movies/TV shows on a 70-inch retractable screen, the HiBed is the epitome of in-bed relaxation. A built-in surround sound system with invisible speakers makes the bed feel more like a movie theatre.
Just a mere 100mm thick when folded, the Extendable Flatpack Paper Bed is quite incredible for a few reasons. Made entirely from paper, the bed uses an accordion-style folding mechanism to allow the bed to extend and collapse when needed. The paper’s vertical layout gives it incredible strength, allowing it to easily take the weight of two people (up to 300 kilos, or 661 lbs) sleeping or sitting on it (the mattress helps distribute the pressure too). The bed’s foldable nature may give it the advantage of portability, but its foldable mattress allows it to also turn into a sofa and an ottoman stool when you need it. Just fold the base and mattress along and you’ve got yourself a simple, sturdy seating device, with or without a backrest!
Normally shape-shifting furniture sounds like something bachelors would have. A bed that’s also a couch? Bachelor’s dream come true! However, the Zipline Loveseat’s design makes it fit into any household. It exudes a certain finesse that’ll make it look great in any and every home! The Zipline comes in four separate parts that when put together, can be turned into either a bed, or a sofa, or even a divan. Separate elements can be used individually too! For example, the small units that you’re left with after turning Zipline into a sofa can be used as either footrests or really chic ottoman stools! You choose what furniture you want or need, and the Zipline Loveseat will shapeshift to fit your demands!
The Three Sixty bed by Savoir truly puts the extra in extravagant. As the name suggests, it rotates 360 degrees and is currently the most expensive bed on the market with a price tag of…I suggest you take a seat right now…$300,000. The Three Sixty is meant to shock and dazzle from every angle, literally. You can change your view with a simple touch on their app. It also has reading lights, USB slots, and power outlets weaved into its sides along with glowing LED lights at the bottom to give it a levitating illusion. The expensive tag comes at the cost of 300 hours of skilled labor and the state-of-the-art turntable from Bumat, a company that usually makes them for the Geneva Motor Show. To make it even more exotic, the cotton velvet used in the headboard was sourced from Dedar and the topper was made from rare natural fibers of a Mongolian yak.
The Slash/Bed was designed to be so incredibly compact when shipped that its entire set of components fit into two boxes that are the same size-footprint as two large pizzas. Open the boxes and your entire bed sits within, ready to assemble. The Slash/Bed is designed in such a way that putting the bed is a one-person task and requires no power tools. The bed relies entirely on Japanese joineries, and the ‘Slash’ design allows each beam of the bed to be folded in half, but be strong when opened out, transferring minimal weight onto the hinge. In the places that use screws, the Slash/Bed relies on metal inserts, so the screws don’t puncture or damage the wood, making it easy to disassemble the bed too.
When we think of a bed providing us with the ultimate relaxation and comfort, we would normally connect this directly with the mattress, but what if the bed itself could contribute to this factor? Well, that’s the objective of the Cuddle bed, which features a flexible, cushioned headboard that’s packed full of functional features! Each side of the headboard can be pivoted by the user to create a sense of privacy and security that conventional beds are missing. This movement is reminiscent of the gentle human interaction that is hugging, or cuddling, adding an element of comfort to the design. The cushioned sideboard also removes the need for a bulky side table; the large pockets are perfect for storing smart devices and books in when the time comes to get some well-needed sleep!
The EZ-Bed uses a compressor and a pretty beautifully designed framework and layout to fit an entire twin-sized bed into a bag that’s good enough to fit in the boot of your car. Simply unzip the bed, connect the plug to a power source, and run the air compressor and the bed unfolds before your eyes, expanding to its full size in under two minutes. Durable, comfortable, and big enough for two adults, the EZ-Bed may have an aesthetic that’s more ‘NASA Mars Rover’ than ‘Quaint Apartment’, but it’s pretty ideal for those quick moments when guests need to spend the night over and you’re short of beds, or if you want to magically turn a spare room in your flat into an Airbnb homestay without shelling out money for a solid bed and upholstery. What’s more, the bed even compresses on its own back into its original space-saving shape when deflated.
